If you already have a previous version installed, here's important information:

To upgrade your current version, you must get the current version unloaded from memory. (It's in memory now if you have listened to Crescendo music since you loaded Internet Explorer.) To accomplish this, close Internet Explorer, and re-open it. Then load this autoinstall page http://kwan-nick.neocities.org/autoinstall.html right away.

Note! If you do not follow this procedure, the automatic installation will download the current version, but will not install it, and there will be no error messages. (We are working with Microsoft to fix this.)

• The final Active X version of Crescendo is free and available now - this is where you get it. It will not expire.
• The Active X version of Crescendo PLUS (the version that always streams) costs $19.95. After you get Crescendo here, you may upgrade your ActiveX Crescendo to ActiveX Crescendo PLUS by going to our secure credit card ordering site to get the (42K) upgrade file by e-mail or ftp.

Here's what happens during automatic installation in gory detail:

1. The page loads. It includes a Crescendo HTML "object" tag which has a "codebase" reference to the installation file at a LiveUpdate Internet site. At this point, the page shows a blank rectangle where Crescendo will be.
2. The Crescendo code is automatically downloaded to a temporary directory. It's about 3/4 megabytes (about 3/4 of this is Microsoft libraries that you probably don't have yet). Download time is about 5 minutes at a 28.8K data rate.
3. A Verisign security certificate appears, certifying that LiveUpdate's parent company Laboratory Technologies Corporation is trusted software developer, assuring you that it is safe to install. You click on "OK".
4. The Crescendo code is automatically installed in your Windows 95 or NT system directory.
5. Crescendo will start playing music!

Notes: Be sure you have the final release version of the Micrsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 browser!
